Meet Rob – Our Newest Model

We recently worked with Rob for our Winter shoot. The shoot went particularly well and kudos to Rob for being a great model to work with. We showed him the sights of our local town, Northampton, (but obviously only only took him to the nicest parts). It was a pretty chilly day, but Rob was a trooper getting changed in the park and side streets of the town, the difficulties of being a model we’re guessing. We are sure you’ve seen loads of pictures of Rob around the site, on our social media and on our product pages, so keep your eyes peeled in the coming few weeks and months because there are plenty more where those came from. To give you a little insight into him and the life of a model we asked him a few questions, here is the Rob interview: What’s the best thing and the worst thing to happen to you in modelling? The best thing would be having the chance to go to Milan Fashion Week last January, it was an amazing experience with a hectic schedule of castings for Fendi, Calvin Klein and Prada. I met a lot of amazing people and made some good new friends in the world of modelling. The worst thing was it was my Birthday during that week and I waited up all night for a call back from Prada that never happened, gutted but it’s their loss. What’s your favourite TV series? Breaking Bad has to be up there, but is that too obvious? I am currently watching the Walking Dead, anything with Zombies in has to be top, Shaun of the Dead is my favourite film. Music, what are you listening to right now? Oh Wonder is my current, but I listen to so many different genres of music there is always something new and something old that I am playing, plus you can’t beat live music it’s something I have been trying to go to more of over the past few months when Uni and modelling jobs allow. What Festival would you most like to go to in 2016? Based on the line up of last year Secret Garden Party is on my list. If you could be any animal what would you be? Easy, a Dog, they get to lie about all day sleeping and food bought to them on a plate. Xbox or PS4 man? Xbox, you can’t beat playing FIFA. If you could have a one way ticket to anywhere in the world where would it be? It has to be America, I don’t know why, it just seems to be the place...

December Trend Focus – Nature

Our December trend focus – Nature. A popular trend in fashion at the minute is the use of nature in patterns for clothing, from prints to logos, nature is being used more and more. With such a vast spectrum of animals, flowers and plants etc., these patterns give a great look to any man, whether it be a subtle touch or big bold prints. We have selected a few items from the Urban Male range where nature has inspired us to design some pieces to complement this trend, perfect to give as gifts for Christmas. Everyone knows that December is the dreaded month of having to think of gift ideas, so if you aren’t feeling too generous then scrap it all together and just treat yourself ready for the party season.   Stags are always popular in fashion, with stag’s heads, antlers and horns used many times in prints or logos. Here we have our popular leather dog tag necklace with a Stag’s Head design on it in an antique gold finish. From our Winter shoot, the necklace looks perfect with a nature themed print t-shirt and faux fur lined coat, a great casual (and WARM) look for this Winter. The necklace offers a simple look and once combined with these fashion pieces you can see it simply adds the finishing touch to the look and a must have for your jewellery collection. You never have to overload with lots of pieces to transfer a trend or style on to your own look, by adding subtle touches such as a tree print on the t-shirt, a fur lined coat and a stag necklace you can easily achieve the look without over doing it.   Lions are a popular choice for men as they evoke the ‘King’ or dominant male in us, it might even give you a well-earned boost to your ego, (disclaimer: not guaranteed). This look combines the trend of nature with our November Trend Focus – Metallics. This lion pendant necklace is made from an aged, gold finish stainless steel; the aged look and black detailing gives it less of a ‘bling’ look and much more of a dull, antique finish. We have put this necklace with a simple t-shirt and jacket for a more casual style, this makes the focus much more about the necklace and less on the overall fashion. The lion’s head really pops out at you, rather than being a subtler statement piece like the stag’s head necklace.   What could be manlier and give you a bit more ‘grrrr’ than a Wolf ring? Our detailed wolf ring comes in an aged golden...

November Trend Focus – Metallics

Our November trend focus – Metallics. This month we wanted to talk to you about the move to more metallic colours now coming through in styles of jewellery and watches for men, including our own range. Colours such as copper, gold and bright silver are becoming the hot new finishes for your jewellery; from wearing them on your wrist to having it in your ear, metallics are the must have for Winter 2015. With the Christmas party season on its way, there has never been a better time to add some to your collection. Here we have combined a Gold Finish Bracelet with a black Leather Studded Bracelet  for what we think is a must have look for casual days or perhaps on a night out. Gold worn on its own can look a little over the top (some may even consider it a bit 1980’s), but worn with this black bracelet it tones down the gold and with the combination of the two different types of materials, leather and steel, this is a winning combo for any man to wear. If you are worried about wearing a little gold, remember two things: not too much and it doesn’t have to cost the Earth. Our gold finish steel jewellery items don’t cost the Earth but give the look of real gold at a mere fraction of the cost. Don’t overload! Just a subtle touch of gold will lift your look. From our City Gent collection we have combined our popular Copper finish bracelet with a black Onyx bead bracelet. This gives a simple and modern look, ideal for guys to wear to work or for more formal occasions. This simple combination again repeats two key things about wearing metallic jewellery: mix up the materials and tone down the brightness of the metallic with a subtle colour, black is always good for this as we all know it goes with pretty much any colour. Copper is a little more subtle than gold and we think it’s a really under used colour for Men’s Jewellery. We aim to change that by introducing a larger range to our collections over the coming months. Here we have combined gold metallics with black finish jewellery and in our opinion it makes a winning combination, one that the whole office unanimously agrees looks great. Perfect for nights out on the town; you can easily find a slim-fitting black shirt to wear, combine it with a black pendant or necklace, bracelet and add a gold finish bracelet and ring to have you strolling round the town like the king. You may think gold is just too...

October Trend Focus – Bracelets With Watches

Our October Trend Focus – Bracelets with Watches. Often, men who wear bracelets do so on the opposite wrist to the watch, but more frequently in fashion we are seeing the two alongside each other and we have to say we love it. It’s the perfect way to accessorise; not only will it sharpen your look, but it will bring some feature to your watch by simply having one or two bracelets to compliment it. You can see in the image above how these two black bracelets (our Lava Rock Bracelet and Plaited Black Leather Bracelet) placed next to this watch sets off the black dial really well, when worn with this shirt you get a smart casual look perfect for nights out. We would only recommend wearing one, two or three bracelets alongside a watch, anymore and you risk looking too bling rather than on-trend. We also recommend thinking about what these bracelets are made from, you don’t want to wear anything too loose or too hard-wearing next to your watch as this has the potential to scratch or damage it (God forbid you scuff the special gift your parents got you for your 21st). Materials such as leather or our bead bracelets are perfect with a metal watch. Alternatively, if you have a leather strap watch, then you could try some stainless steel bracelets to give a contrast to the plain leather, or, of course, you could wear matching coloured leather to the strap. In this look, we have chosen a couple of our popular copper finish bracelets, our Copper ID Bracelet and Copper Plaited Leather Bracelet. Both of these are a sharp contrast to the bracelets previously mentioned, but matched here with a denim shirt you get a great look perfect for a casual day out with your mates or an evening in a bar. The sharp contrast in colours will ensure they stand out on your wrist making people notice them more. Here at Urban Male, we are loving metallic finish jewellery at the moment, it’s going to be our Trend Focus in November so watch this space! Try to structure your wrist wear appropriately, we recommend looser bracelets sit in front of the watch; tighter fitting bracelets work best behind. If your watch preference is simpler and slightly less in-your-face (see above), all you’ve got to do is accessorise with similar colours and casual styles. The watch will be less of a statement and almost blends with the bracelets to look a lot more relaxed and comfortable. To add a splash of colour, we’ve placed bright coloured bracelets on the other wrist making this...

Meet Danny – Our Newest Model

Hello and welcome to the first of many posts where we’d like to introduce you to our newest Urban Male models. Meet Danny; he’s got big muscles, an equally big grin and looks absolutely great wearing our jewellery (of course we’re gonna say that). Here’s just a bit about this cheeky chappy.     Favourite film? The wolf of wall street. Good choice Danny, good choice. The star of the film, Leonardo Di Caprio is actually one of his role models along with the ever talented Will Smith. Music? He loves to go clubbing and is a fan of house and rap music. A man after our own hearts, although we do like to mix it up a bit with some indie and rock here at Urban male. What do you do to keep fit and healthy? The answer is simple really…go to the gym! Who comes up with these questions anyway? Oh, and eating plenty of protein must help.     Favourite meal/night out? His favourite food is Chicken and Rice (we’re guessing maybe a cheeky Nando’s) and his preferred night out would be going out Clubbing, followed/preceded by (presumably) said chicken. Ideal holiday? Originally from Cyprus, this has to be his first choice because there’s no place like home right? Plus it’s HOT. When you’re not modelling? Danny has been a keen actor from a young age and is currently studying drama at university, so look out for him in Hollyoaks some time soon. And finally… Favourite childhood cartoon? Being from the Cartoon Network era Danny has fond memories of Ed, Edd n Eddie. Anybody watch Ed, Ed n Eddy? Here’s a reminder:     From top to bottom, here’s what jewellery Danny is wearing: Red & White look: Skull design ring, Angel Wing pendant, leather Wing bracelet, black and red Bead bracelets and a gold finish earring. Purple look: Octopus pendant, white and purple bead bracelets, black leather Wrap bracelet, with a curved black ring. Black Leather look: Winged Grenade pendant, Metro bracelet set, and a black ball stud earring.   Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for Danny on all our social media channels like FB and Twitter where he’ll be showing off some of our range.   The Urban Male team....

Product Focus – Surf Bracelets

Our range of surfer style bracelets is arguably our most popular and with loads of colours and styles to choose from, the range is versatile to suit any outfit. Surfer style jewellery is a little ambiguous as it encompasses an array of styles using different materials but our idea of the perfect beach bracelet is something natural looking and fun, reflective of the beach goers’ lifestyle. From plaited leather to multicoloured cord and wooden beads, they are an essential unisex accessory for the summer.   Versatile – You don’t have to be wearing tropical shorts and a threadbare honcho to wear our Surf Style bracelets, as they can work perfectly as a small statement of individuality with a smart look too. Match them to your t-shirt/shirt and shoes or simply use them to add a splash of colour, and never underestimate the power of stacking! Most of our Bracelets feature a cord drawstring  to fit all wrist sizes, also giving the option of wearing them loose or tight while other designs feature metal clasps. We think the key to wearing casual bracelets is to build up a collection that you can just swap around, keeping your look fresh; we have a huge range to choose from at affordable prices, making us your one stop shop.   Variety – We stock a huge range of styles and colours to suit everyone, using quality Leather, Cord, wood and metal components. We pride ourselves in the selection available, because when it comes to casual bracelets you can literally go nuts and have them all the way up your arm if you want (arm girth permitting of course). We get new products in on a regular basis to join our old favourites, so you could quite possibly wear a different bracelet every day of the year (that may be a little overboard though), but you get the idea!     Take a look at the whole range here and see what you think.   Thanks for reading.   The Urban Male team....
