Music: Top 5 Album’s For October
Want to know what to listen to this month? We’ve selected 5 new album releases for you to check out because we wouldn’t want you to be bored now! There’s a bit of a selection of genres this month so hopefully there’s something for you to get excited about. Check them out now and plan October’s musical journey.
Released on October 6th, Jamie Cullum’s new album ‘interlude’ is an easy listening jazz with guest vocals from Laura Mvula and Gregory Porter. The album is a selection of covers from various artists with the lead single being ‘Don’t let me be misunderstood’
Also released on October 6th is the self titled debut album from Hozier which we’re pretty excited about. The album has a lot of character and soul with the stand out track being ‘take me to the church’ which will leave you with goose pimples all over from the haunting and powerful gospel sound that he’s created. This album is definitely no background noise as you’ll find yourself hooked in silence for the entirety.
Out now is the latest album from Weezer…yes, Weezer, the band from your youth. There will perhaps never be a song as iconic as ‘teenage dirt bag’ but the album is a great listen. Something you can happily bop to to wherever you are with that bouncy rock sound, the highlight track for us is ‘back to the shack’ which boasts a catchy theme which is equally as pleasing as the cover art. ‘Everything will be alright in the end’ is a real party starter that won’t gather dust quickly in your CD collection.
Up next is Gorgon City with their debut album Sirens from the electric music duo Kye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott. The album provides a smooth club sound for easy listening that will gently liven up your evening with feel good vibes. There’s not a lot of heavy bass but that’s half the charm of this upcoming act. You can buy the album now as it was released October 6th.
Last but certainly not least is the annual round up from BBC Radio 1’s 2014 Live Lounge performances. Featuring covers and one of a kind performances from this years hottest talent including Labrinth, Kasabian, George Ezra, Little Mix and Rudimental plus tonnes of other awesome artists. If you’re going to get just one compilation album this year then we definitely suggest this. It gets released on October 27th so set the date.
